The Final Report is available, which describes the activities of the project from 01/09/2013 to 31/12/2018.

On 31st December 2018 the KASZÓ-LIFE project has been completed.

We have successfully implemented shoulder activities in the project.

The Final Report must be submitted by 31 March 2019.

The Layman's report has been prepared, presenting the objectives of the project, the activities carried out and the results achieved.

A group from our company payed a visit to the Spanish LIFE Alnus project in the beginning of December. After presenting on the KASZÓ-LIFE project we could gain insight into the LIFE Anus project which aims to find an effective method to protect and rehabilitate alder forests on riverbanks. Another perspective of the project is to find a model that can be implemented in Mediterranean countries and helps preventing the shrinking of alder forests.

LIFE Alnus project’s goal is to implement conservation and restoration actions that serve as a model and are transferable to the rest of the Catalan and Mediterranean basins suffering from the same conservation issues as these riverside areas.

Out in the field we visited some river sections where work is ongoing. On each site the problems were demonstrated as well as the methods aiming to solve them. Visiting the project proved to be useful since we could exchange our experience and findings. We hope to keep in contact with our Spanish partners in the future.

During the project, we had a continuous link with the Duna-Dráva National Park, and before the closure had a further meeting with the nature guard. During the third community meeting, the results that had been presented by the NAIK ERTI were also discussed. We shared our experiences concerning the protection of the environment, for instance the growing of the marsh seedbox stock at Lake Bükk. We also listed some tasks to be completed in the future and stated that we would put great emphasis on nature conservation aspects.

The national park had no objections to the project.

In the second modification of contract we drew up the mapping of production area in those locations that are included in the project. This was included as a new action (D3 Action). The appointed water and soil experts started working on this new objective in August 2018.

Experts collected samples from the 73 newly opened soil profiles in the area. The laboratory testing of samples provided experts with the necessary information to model the pedologic and hydrologic conditions of the concerned approximately 2000 hectare of land.

Using yield measurement detailed site mapping has been drawn up that support the long-term conservation and restoration of habitats.
